Jerome Robert Ford, Sr., lovingly known by family and friends as "Pete," of Jersey City, New Jersey, returned to his heavenly home on Saturday, September 13, 2020, after a valiant battle with an illness. He was very devoted to and loved his family and friends. He was a member of Mount Pisgah AME Church in Jersey City, New Jersey.
Pete, age 65, was born on August 23, 1955 in Marion, South Carolina, to the late Robert and the late Queen Ester Ford. He spent his childhood in the town of Sellers until he graduated from Marion High School with the Class of 1973. Afterwards, he married Bernice Horne with whom he welcomed three children into their lives: two daughters: Tameika Ford and Sheritta Ford both of Marion, South Carolina; one son: Jerome R. Ford, Jr. of Jersey City, New Jersey.
In New Jersey, Pete was employed by Topps Appliance Company for more than twelve years as a truck driver. He left there and began working for Independence Beauty Supply, where he remained until he became ill. He worked for them for twenty-five years as a dedicated employee.
Pete was preceded in death by his parents: Robert and Queen Esther Ford and one brother: David Earl Ford.
Jerome "Pete" Ford, Sr. is survived by his three children: Tameika, Sheritta and Jerome, his sisters: Antionette "net" (victor) Caswell of Newark, NJ and Judy (Frank) Felton of Sellers, SC; his brothers: Robert Lee (Angela) Rogers of Charlotte, NC, Jimmy Lee (Minister Kathy)Ford of Marion, SC and Reginald Ford of Newark, NJ; his nine grandchildren; his aunts: Ernestine Ford of Sellers, SC and Florine (John L.) Williams of Newark, NJ: his uncle: Bishop George (Lillie) Ford and Connell Ford both of Philadelphia, PA, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
