Obituary

"For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shell be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus Our Lord." Romans 8: 38-39

Alfred Lee Williams left us on September 5, 2021, at McLeod Medical Center in Florence, SC with his wife by his side. Alfred was born July 9, 1958, in Dillon, SC. He was the son of the late Walter and Ruby Lee Berry Williams.

Alfred graduated from Latta High School in Latta, South Carolina, with the Class of 1976. After graduating high school, he proudly joined the US Army where he served four years achieving the rank of Corporal. After working various jobs, he found his passion which led to a 34-year career in truck driving. He loved his profession and was known as a “human map”. If you ever needed directions, he would always be your guide. Alfred loved to cook and was a family man. He was so very proud of his children and if you caught him in a quite moment you would hear about all the wonderful things they were doing. Alfred never met a stranger and had a way of bringing everyone together. No matter where he lived, Alfred’s home was always known as the gathering place for all family events. Alfred was strong in his faith and he loved God. He loved
his family; his friends and he will be greatly missed.

Alfred was a member of New Hope Missionary Baptist Church where he at an early age was active member of choir, Junior Missionary and Usher Board until going in the military.

Alfred was married to former Betty Ruth Smith. They were joined in matrimony on September 1, 2012, with a beautiful ceremony in Dillon, SC.

Alfred was preceded in death by his parents, one son, Chevis Williams; five aunts, two uncles and one brother, Gary Williams.

Alfred leaves to cherish his memory: his loving wife, Betty Ruth Williams; three sons, Dominic Durant, Fayetteville, GA, Fredrick (Allegra) Smith, Florence, SC, and Donnelle (Latoya) Smith, Dillon, SC; two daughters, Takeyshia (Reginald) Nichols, Rockhill, SC and Kendrell Davis, Dillon, SC; Eleven grandchildren; Da’veon (Ke’Asia) Delrey, Chevis Williams Jr., Desmend Nichols, Thomas Nichols, Dominic Durant Jr., Domarion Durant, Bryson Smith, Aubri Smith, Tristan Smith, Kamare Alford and a special granddaughter of the home Kemora Davis.
