James Brown Burgess was born on February 16, 1967 in Dillon County, South Carolina to Gertrude Burgess and the late Roosevelt Burgess. He entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, October 23, 2018.

James attended the Dillon County Public Schools in Dillon, South Carolina.

James gave his life to the Lord in 2000 while a member of the Pleasant Grove Missionary Baptist Church, (Where?). James loved taking care of his family especially his grandchildren. James liked to fix on cars and collect odds and ends to fix up.

James leaves to cherish his fond and loving memories ~ his wife: Patricia Burgess of Mullins, SC; three children: Tony (Elizabeth), Crystal, and Tyrone; his grandchildren: Zuri of Marion, NuNu of Latta, SC, Mariah of Mullins, SC, Lauren of Johnsonville, SC and Amanda of Marion, SC; his mother: Gertrude Burgess; his sisters: Joyce Ann Burgess, Nancy Ann Burgess (Kevin), Nancy Lee Burgess, and Angela Burgess all of Latta, SC; mother-n-law: Louise Tyler of Marion, SC; sister-n-law: Shelley Frazier of Mullins, SC; uncles: J. R. Burgess  and Donnie Ray Burgess both of Latta, SC and Enoch Wells of Boston; aunts:

Gail (Raul) Wells of Charlotte, NC, Sheila (Wayne) Russell of Charlotte, NC; Spring Wells of Florida; nine nieces, three nephews, seven great nephews, seven great nieces and a host of cousins, other relatives and friends.
