Obituary

"Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me."  Psalm 23:4 Dorothy "Dott" Lee Cox entered into eternal rest on Friday, July 13, 2018. Dott was born June 30, 1931 in Latta, South Carolina to the late Andrew Cox, Sr. and Pearline Cox. Dorothy attended the Latta School District from elementary education and she graduated from Dillon County Training High School, Latta, South Carolina. Dott moved to New York in 1954 where she continued to be a servant of God and became a member of Church of God in Christ in Brooklyn, New York with Bishop Elder Williams, pastor. She was the first in her family to graduate from College; The College of New Rochelle in New Rochelle, New York, where she received a Bachelor's Degree. She had a very successful career in New York. Dott retired from Bell Atlantic where she began an operator and retired as a section executive. Then became a teacher in New York City Schools District. She also retired from NYC  Schools and returned back to Latta, South Carolina with her only child, Andrea Cox. In 2007 she joined Door of Hope Church, Marion, South Carolina where Bishop Michael Blue is the Pastor. Dott enjoyed life, traveling the world, serving the Lord, laughing, shopping and dressing. Dott was preceded in death by her daughter: Andrea Cox and a brother: Andrew Cox, Jr. Dott leaves to mourn her loving memories ~ three sisters: Lue Pearl Christie, Edna Mae McClam, Takiyah Abdullah; her grandchildren: Kemal (Simone) Cox, Kiesha (Michael) Johnson, Siobhan (Clay) Torres, John (Angela Cestero) Marshall; her great grandchildren: Kemal Cox II, Keonna Cox, Kemani Cox, Michaela Jackson, Stafford Jackson, Lavelle Prior, Michael Johnson Jr., Miles Johnson, Nala Johnson, Noah Johnson, Shane Torres, Sebastian Torres, Sawyer Torres, David Cestero; nine great, great grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends. Dott will be missed by family and friends.
