Obituary

Dorothy A. Ward Hayes was born on October 16, 1940 to the late Marvin and Johnanna Ward. "Dot" answered the call of the Lord as he beckoned her home on Sunday, April 22, 2018 to come and receive her new glorified body.

Dot attended and graduated from the Marlboro County Schools system.  She married Edgar "Bemmer" Hayes on November 19, 1960 and to this union they were blessed with one son: James Hayes.

Dot worked at Leggs'/Sara Lee Hosiery for thirty-three years.  After her retirement from Leggs' she went to Pee Dee Home Health as an aide. Dot also did other private duty jobs and she worked that position until her health failed. Dot was a member of Pleasant Hill Missionary Baptist Church until she married, then she joined New Hope Missionary Baptist Church.  She served as a Deaconess, Missionary, Pastor's Aide, Usher, Senior Citizens Ministry, the Senior and Mass Choirs, a member of Dora Tent #36 and United Order of Tent.

She was preceded in death by two sons: Michael Ward and James Hayes.

Dot leaves to cherish her fond and loving memories ~ her loving husband: Edgar Hayes of the home; two sisters: Janette W. Oliver of Blenheim, SC and Shirley Mae Ward of Rock Hill, SC; one brother: Marvin Ward of Bennettsville, SC; two grandsons: Carlos (Mary) Ward and Michael Ward Jr. both of Bennettsville, SC; four great grand-daughters; three great grandsons of Bennettsville, SC; five sisters-n-law: Eulah Mae Ward of Bennettsville, SC, Lillian Carmichael of Ashburn, VA, Alene Jones of Dillon, SC, Hannah Mae (Anthony) Warren of Richmond, VA, Rhonda Hayes McClam of Norfolk, VA, Mary (Charles) Mcrimmon of Dillon, SC; two brothers-n-law: Robert Hayes of Norfolk, VA and Wendell Hayes of Dillon, SC; a special friend: Courtney Davis and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
