Charles J. Martin , affectionately called "CJ" or "Martin" was the son of the late Joseph and Vera King Martin was born on April 21, 1935 in Clarendon County, South Carolina. He departed this earthly life on Tuesday, June 19, 218 at McLeod Hospital, Darlington, SC. Charles was an educator who received his early childhood education in the public schools of Clarendon County, South Carolina. He was a member of Williams Chapel Christian Church, Manning, South Carolina. After graduating high school, he attended Morris College, Sumter, South Carolina. He left college and enlisted in the United States Army, and later received an honorable discharged. He then matriculated back to Morris College, where he received a Bachelor of Science degree in History. Charles later attended North Carolina Central College, Durham, North Carolina and received a Master's Degree in History. After teaching History for many years, he retired from the Marion School District One, Marion, South Carolina. Charles met and married Virginia Eaddy on December 24, 1967; they were married over fifty years. They were the proud parents of one son: Charrick Martin who preceded him in death. Charles always love to debate or get an argument going to get a big laugh. Witty remarks were always his pet peeve. Charles was an entrepreneur  at heart; selling fine clothes to both men and women. He owned two stores during his tenure in business and then became a mobile clothing salesman. Martin dressed many people with a distinct manner, style, and class. Charles leaves to cherish his memories ~ his loving wife: Virginia Eaddy Martin of the home, one sister: Dorothy Easter of Baltimore, Maryland; a host of nieces, nephews in various locations other relatives and friends.
